Located on the road to the beaches of the Landing beaches, between Arromanches and Ohama Beach, Camping** de La Prairie in Port en Bessin will be the ideal starting point for exploring the thousand faces of Calvados, between sea and bocage.

Arromanches

The artificial port, a real technical feat and a challenge to time...

"Since we don't have ports, we will bring our own." declared Churchill shortly before the landing operations on the beaches of Normandy in June 1944.

This is how in the space of 8 days, Arromanches was transformed into an artificial port:

  • 8 kilometers of harbor
  • 9,000 tonnes of material landed every day
  • More than 100 "Pheonix" concrete boxes
  • 6 kilometers of floating roads

Also worth seeing is the circular cinema "Arromanches 360°" to relive the incredible hours of June 6, 1944, and the Landing Museum (photos, models, equipment, weapons.. .)
